News: Legoland California begins Holiday festivities

Posted Sunday, December 21st, 2008 at 6:15 am by James R

LEGOLAND California kicks off its holiday celebrations this weekend, December 20th and 21st.

The tenth annual Holiday Block Party, which is presented by Volvo Cars of North America, will run Dec. 20 through Dec. 30, 2008 and will end on a bang with a Kids’ New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31. Many attractions will be glittering with lights, including the world’s biggest LEGO Christmas tree.

Vistors will have the opportunity to meet special guests, enjoy hoilday sounds, take pictures with an exclusive life-size LEGO Santa Claus, his sleigh and even two reindeer. Parents who may be needing some last minute shopping for the kids can take care of that at The Big Shop.

A special park guest will get to light the 30-foot tall LEGO Christmas tree. This lucky guest will be picked at random, and will get to pull the big switch! This tree is made of more than 245,000 forest green DUPLO® bricks and covered with nearly 400 LEGO ornaments, and a thousand lights.

Other attractions include the returning "Holidays Around the World," strolling Carolers, a stilt-walking toy solider, fireworks and other events.

The following are the current hours and details regarding the park’s Holiday festivities.
