Six Flags Over Texas announced it will keep The Texas Giant wooden coaster closed for the entire year of 2010, the year of its 20th anniversary, for a major renovation work to restore the ride back to its glory condition. This year-long renovation will cost around $10 million and will reopen in 2011.
Opened in 1990, it has been consistently ranked as the best wooden coaster in the world, the coaster since has gone through a few processes of retracking during the winter months and has been getting increasingly rough over the years.
