Charlotte, NC (April 21, 2009): Carowinds, the 112-acre combination amusement and water park located on the border of the Carolinas, has teamed up with the Carolina Panthers to bring the Carolina Panthers Draft Day Party on Saturday, April 25. The Panthers and Carowinds will celebrate the home-team spirit behind the 2009 NFL Draft with games, contests, and events such as:
· Meet and Greet sessions with the coolest cat in the Carolinas, Sir Purr;
· Performances by the TopCat Cheerleaders;
· Question & Answer sessions with your favorite Panther players, hosted by “the voice of the Panthers” Mick Mixon;
· Raffles to win autographed Panthers merchandise;
· Various Contests to challenge a Panthers player, including the opportunity to ride the new Carolina Cobra roller coaster with a Carolina Panthers player.
· For the kids, an added attraction available to “tackle” will be the Panthers Experience, an inflatable obstacle course, where participants can play, climb, and jump.
In addition, the 2009 NFL Draft will be broadcasted live on a big screen for guests’ viewing pleasure in the Paladium Amphitheatre. Carolina Panthers players will also be available for autographs throughout the day.
“This will be a great way to kick off the 2009 draft weekend. The Carolina Panthers are excited to team up with Carowinds to provide a fun and exciting draft day experience for our fans,” John Berger, Director of Sponsor Sales for the Carolina Panthers, said of the upcoming event.
There is no better way to celebrate the 2009 NFL Draft than with the Carolina’s favorite home team and a day at Carowinds, complete with over 50 rides, shows, and attractions to get the adrenaline pumping. In addition to the thrilling collection of 12 roller coasters at the park, the Carolina Panthers Draft Day Party is sure to bring an electrifying array of events to engage, excite, and enthrall park guests.
“It is only fitting that a football team that represents the Carolinas as a whole should partner to celebrate that bond with their fans at Carowinds, an amusement park originally built to unite and represent the culture of the Carolinas,” Bart Kinzel, Vice President and General Manager of Carowinds, stated of the partnership. “We are certain that fans will get a ‘kick’ out of the Carolina Panthers Draft Day Party and enjoy an added value to an already exciting experience at Carowinds.”
The Carolina Panthers Draft Day Party is an all day event and is free with admission to the park. Guests may pre-purchase discount admission tickets at any participating North Carolina Harris Teeter location or South Carolina Bi Lo Location.
Carowinds is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “FUN.” In addition to Carowinds, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, six water parks, one indoor water park resort, and five hotels. Cedar Fair also operates the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy, CA under a management contract.
That actually sounds like a pretty good idea, I can't see the park not having a close to capacity day with everything that's being offered.
I can only imagine what would happen if Canada's Wonderland did something like that with the Leafs and the NHL draft; the park would be filled pretty fast.
It's not going to be all that crowded this year since Carolina has no first round pick so most fans are not that intrested in the draft this year but if they do it again next year it could be better.
There is always a big suprise waiting on draft day to see if the Panthers do something with Peppers to maybe get a first round pick or two.
Sounds like a dream deal for Panthers fans. I wouldn't try to get EAGLES and Giants fans together at SFGADV.
