Today Freestyle Music Park announced the “Kids in America” area for children and four new children rides that will debut with the park for the planned Memorial Day opening weekend this year. Park representatives also announced the creation of the Freestyle Music Park Kid’s Foundation. Freestyle Music Park is creating an area where children with their parents and grandparents could enjoy the best family amusement and entertainment on four new rides.
Premiering will be:
“Life is a Highway” – a flat-track ride that places guests in the driver’s seat of a big rig truck.
“Wheels In The Sky” – a ride that will allow riders to pedal through the clouds in colorful hang glider cars. Each car will have two children and adult seats.
“Fly Like An Eagle” – a traditional kite flyer ride that will combine the sensation of flight with the feeling of the Myrtle Beach ocean waves.
“Get Off Of My Cloud” – A balloon ride with eight festive cars that will allow families to get a spectacular view of Freestyle Music Park.
The new rides will join a roller coaster, a performance venue with a new themed show, play area, rock wall and basketball court in the new “Kids In America.” The coaster formerly known as Shake, Rattle & Rollercoaster did not debut yet with its new name, its sign covered in black. The park also introduced an updated new park logo which now includes placement on a guitar pick shield. To mark Earth Day Freestyle Music Park relocated a tree from another construction zone of the park and planted it in the new area. “Kids in America” will replace the Banana Splitsville area of the park with a total space of 17,000-square-feet.

While the rides themselves are nothing special, I'm glad the park is adding some new rides for the young ones since that seemed to be a major chink in their armor last year (along with numerous other problems).
The Balloon tower, **** Flyer and bikes are all family sized rides. So I would consider then good investments. At least their not little kids only rides. Like the name and the new rides are a good move.
They really needed the family flat rides. I haven't been to the park (like all too many people), but from what I read, they were distinctly lacking in things for younger kids (<5 years old) to do.
Always good to see new rides in a park. This one really needs more rides in its arsenal.
You know what, I actually kind of agree with how these new guys are managing the park. It looks like the place could actually retain a distinctive atmosphere... if they actually build up on it. [/hope_for_more_theming]
I think, if they survive year one, we will see a lot more changes next year.
I, myself, would really like to see this park take off. They had the right idea, just didn't market it well at all and really overpriced it.
I think once things settle down, prices fall a bit and adding more family friendly/kid rides. This park should surely get a following.
