Six Flags Great America, located in Gurnee, Illinois, played host to the latest attempt to set the Guinness World Record for largest shower and most people showering simultaneously at a single venue. Pert Plus, in marketing its latest product for men, joined with the park in this attempt.
An estimated 150 people showered at the park’s Hurricane Harbor in attempt to break the record set by recording artists Ludacris and Tommy Lee in May of 2008. Their record setting shower, according to the Guinness World Records, was recorded at 96 feet and 3 inches long and 38 feet wide.
The structure at the park was 40,000 square feet, with 40 shower nozzles, and custom-built for this record-breaking attempt. The structure measures 100 feet long and 40 feet wide. It took seven and a half hours to construct the shower.
At this time, there is no record set for most people showering at a single venue. Verification of the record will take up to six weeks once Guinness receives all of the paperwork.
According to Brooke Gabbert, Six Flags Great America spokeswoman, some of the participants complained of cold water, but most guests seemed to have enjoyed themselves.
