News: Voyage to be featured on Travel Channel special

Posted Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 at 8:17 am by Katie

The Travel Channel has upped the ante yet again with “Extreme Terror Rides 2″ tonight (Sept. 2) at 8 p.m. Eastern. The show features thrill rides from around the world including The Voyage at Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari, which was voted No. 1 wooden roller coaster on the planet.

Over the last few years Holiday  World has been featured in many programs on the Travel Channel. Later this fall, two of its water rides, Pilgrim’s Plunge and ZOOMbabwe will be featured on the show “Extreme.”

Of course I just read this now. Figures...

Hopefully it gets repeated soon and I get to see it. I would've loved to see Steel Hawg in action since I haven't got a chance yet in person.

It is re-running Mark no worries. Sunday at 10pm.

Thanks Katie! I'll have to make sure to set the DVR and watch it. I read the show description and saw it featured Poseidon's Rage which I just experienced a couple weeks ago and thought was incredible. I had filmed it with the camera but it's hard to get the same effect. I'm sure it will film better with their cameras and I can show some people the program.

I have good news and bad news.

    First, the bad news-
I don't believe it's this show that is set to air but instead the first one unless it's a mistake.

The good news though is that I'm not sure if I've even seen the first one. Also, while looking through the guide, I noticed there are a couple other shows with the date of air as 2009 so I don't think I seen those either. If it wasn't for this show, I wouldn't have looked and noticed the others.

I don't remember the exact names but one was about the fastest thrill rides. They're on sometime this weekend I believe. When I get a chance, I'll check for info as to when they air for anybody interested.

I know that the at 9pm and 10pm ET on Sunday night both new shows are on. One about speed (featuring Ring Racer, Pilgrim's Plunge and Hades?) and the other about drops (featuring Voyage and some other stuff). All on the Travel Channel.

I have both recorded. Now if only my DVR would record to a disc, I could make a fortune! :-D

Travel Channel did an excellent job not representing the coasters on these shows. I almost turned it off while they were talking about the Voyage. Follow that up with the "coming up next" part getting me excited about Ring Racer for them to only talk about it for like 20 seconds. They should of left the coasters off these shows!

Don't get too excited if they are re airing it and don't be depressed if you missed it cause it was a waste.

I thought it was a nice segment with Voyage. I kept imagining getting airtime watching it. (I miss Voyage!). The Ring Racer segment was very disappointing. I haven't watched all of the one show that aired last night (I DVR'ed it) cause I was watching the steeler game.

I like the new shows. Anything is better then stuff from 01.

Katie for some reason, when I looked at the show title and description, it sounded like an older show. Maybe the list is incorrect.

To anyone who's disappointed by the show(s), I don't see why. I've always liked these shows. The camera work is pretty good and it's just nice seeing coasters shown in detail on TV. Of course shows aren't going to just show POV of the ride and that's it. Nobody other than enthusiasts would be interested in that.

If you want POV shots, many parks have them online as well as Youtube although many of those are illegal and not always the best quality. I personally like seeing other shots besides POV. So I love when I get a chance to see a new show.
