Kings Island got rid of its dead celebrity display after some complaints.
The celebrities included Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and NFL star Steve McNair. Kings Island spokesman Don Helbig said the park wasn’t trying to be distasteful.
Helbig said the park had a few complaints and decided to take down the display. It had not been open to the public.
Other celebrity skeletons included Sonny Bono face first into a tree, Ted Williams in a freezer and recently deceased celebrities Farrah Fawcett and Billy Mays. The McNair display had the skeleton wearing a No. 9 jersey sitting on a couch with a dress-wearing skeleton on his lap. A gun was on the ground. McNair’s mistress killed him and then herself, police say.
Kings Island’s Halloween Haunt began Friday.

Oh boo-hoo, so some people were upset. Probably the same people that wouldn't go into the haunt attraction even if they were at the park! I bet you'll see examples of the yanked displays at other haunted houses or whatever this year, and no one will complain to those owners. I just wonder if the Michael Jackson display was going to have kid sized skeletons all around him.
I have to agree with the park's decision here and actually think it was a bad idea in the first place. I'm not one to think that celebrities deserve special treatment but I also don't think their deaths should be trivialized, at least most anyway shouldn't be.
I read the article and it said that Sonny Bono's skeleton was face first in a tree. Does that sound tasteful? And Steve McNair's was poking fun at him being murdered. Sorry, I think many of these skeletons were a stupid idea.
I do have to say that is rather distasteful in the manner they put together the display in the manner that they did... particularly the Sonny Bono, Ted Williams, and Steve McNair displays.
I can't find any way to justify their display, especially since some of those (like McNair's) is still fresh in everyone's minds... there are still news stories that have to do with his death (particularly the probate hearings and the one who sold the gun to that girl). It really put a damper on what was supposed to be a fun July 4th here in Nashville.
I liked it better when they had gravestones of all the CF execs.
