The rides at Kiddieland in Melrose, Ill., will be auctioned in November.
The sale of the park and rides as a whole fell through. Notable items in the sale will be the 1950 Herbert Schmeck wooden coaster Little Dipper and the PTC carousel. Individual items will be sold at auction Nov. 24.
The carousel was built in 1925 and moved to Kiddieland in 1949 or 1950. The carousel has 16 “signature horses” that bear the PTC logo. Some carousels only have one or two signature horses.
Kiddieland closed on Sept. 27, 2009. The land owners did not renew the lease because the property had become worth more than the park. All the rides need to be removed by Jan. 1 to comply with the lease.
