Merlin Entertainment, the new owner of Cypress Gardens have announced that the park will be changed into a Legoland like it’s sister parks in California and England.
The park is not scheduled to open until the end of 2011. It will have about 40-50 attractions added into the park and has shaved years off of developing the park due to it already being used as an amusement park. The company will be pouring a few hundred million dollars into the park and expect it to open with some of the existing attractions.
The water park will stay open and operate like normal but will be a separate gate price.

No Starliner though. So my next trip to South Central Florida will either be Boomers or Busch Gardens. I have no interest in CG now. Only thing to me that was worth the long drive from South Georgia is not in their plans.
RIP Starliner.
I thought the article said some of the rides will be used maybe even one or two of the coasters?
I only need to get Starliner. Legos are a brand I love from my childhood. I actually have a few Technic sets now too. I expect a Lego Technic Wild Mouse, hopefully better than the portable model that was there as Cypress Gardens.
Hopefully they'll keep Starliner.
Its still for sale, however, this is a branch of Blackstone Group, they might move it to another one of their parks. Also, from what I've read, this is just one of the parks Merlin plans to open in Florida, rumors are of a park geared more towards the teens and adult crowds, as opposed to the under 12 target crowd Legoland is for, and Starliner could be put in storage like the Zingo, waiting for that possible park to be built. Perhaps the Starliner Saga isn't over.
The pic of the front end loader dumping Legos at the Legoland Florida press conference just made my day. I'm really glad this brand has crossed paths with Cypress Gardens.
I want that Lego Panther they gave Crist .
I found an old guy in DC today with a Cypress Gardens hat so I broke to him the news. I was hoping he was one of their retired age workers and care but I think he just got the hat at a clearance sale.
It's great news to hear that Cypress Gardens will live on. Will be nice to have a lego land closer to me. I do home the coasters stay.
