News: Mr. Six set to dance into Magic Mountain

Posted Thursday, January 28th, 2010 at 9:50 pm by Wes

sfmmmrsix-smFor several years the Coaster Wars raged between Cedar Point and Six Flags Magic Mountain.  One park would always try to top the other in the design of their new ride and on top of that try and take the coveted title of the park with the most coasters in the world.  Well, I guess you could say the war was just taking a ceasefire, as Six Flags has thrown down the gauntlet and added two coasters within two years.

Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced plans to move Road Runner’s Express, a Vekoma family coaster from Six Flags New Orleans to the Valencia, CA theme park thus bringing the park’s total coasters to 17, tying Cedar Point for the most coasters.

The coaster will be re-themed as Mr. Six’s DanceCoaster, themed to the famous dancing spokes-character Mr. Six and will have trains transformed to look like dancing shoes.  The second coaster to carry a Mr. Six-theme will be built between Déjà Vu and Johnny Rockets and is scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend.

For more information and an artist’s rendering of the new train visit Los Angeles Times.

I was about to write: "Mr. Six dances back onto Six Flags coaster." I like this addition and the use of their own character.

The question now is who will be the first to add an 18th adult coaster?

  3. Wes's Avatar Wes says:

Considering CP isn't adding a coaster this year, I would guess it would be them.

  4. Leo C's Avatar Leo C says:

Just add The Dark Knight and they're there.

  5. Does SFMM have any coasters that are SBNO?

  6. Wes's Avatar Wes says:

Not anymore. They took down Psyclone which from the way I heard it ran might as well have been SBNO.

Flash Back was also finally removed.

  7. Racer's Avatar Racer says:

^So Deja Vu isn't SBNO anymore?

  8. Wes's Avatar Wes says:

According to rcdb it isn't, but not sure since I'm 3000 miles away from there. lol

  9. Leo C's Avatar Leo C says:

I thought Deja Vu was continuously running. If anything it was on a maintenance rehab schedule that other coasters at SFMM may have.

  10. I can see Cedar Point taking out Snake River Falls to build another coaster seeing as how they are building a water ride this year.

This Snake River falls is a drenching boat with a bridge crossing ride? If they want to follow SFGADV's lead I guess.
