News: Carowinds’ Intimidator takes its first lap

Posted Thursday, February 4th, 2010 at 7:55 pm by Wes

RSGcompGood news out of Charlotte has been somewhat hard to come by these days.  With the financial fallout of Bank of America and Wachovia, which were both headquartered in the Queen City until Wells Fargo stepped in and bought Wachovia, the city has been reeling from the effects of numerous layoffs and cutbacks by the banks.

Today as former Bank of America CEO Ken Lewis was being charged with fraud in relation to the financial meltdown of the company, a bit of good news was coming out of Charlotte.

Charlotte’s newest claim to fame Intimidator, located at Carowinds, began its first test run.  The coaster is now the tallest, fastest and longest coaster in the Southeast.

The coaster appears to be running quickly, despite cold winter temperatures in the Carolinas.

For video of the first test run visit YouTube.  For Facebook users, visit the Carowinds page for photos of the first run.

Good video. Can't wait to ride this later this year. I didn't realize Intimidator would have the same seating set-up as Diamondback until viewing the video.

I think every B&M hyper will have that seating style now.
