More About This Park
History:
Astroworld opened in 1968, thanks to Houston Astros owner Judge Roy Hofheinz. The park was purchased by Six Flags in 1975.

Sadly, Six Flags AstroWorld was closed forever in October of 2005. Several of the rides that were enjoyed by both tourists and Houstonians alike, are now finding new homes in other Six Flags parks.

This is a really good park. If you are in Houston you should try it out.

One of the neglected Flags parks. It makes sense since the much newer San Antonio and the original Arlington parks are within a day of driving. Astroworld reminds me of St. Louis before Mr. Freeze. Just pathetic.

I've only been here once, so i don't know if this is a fair judgement, but i hate this park. the lines were really long and the rides weren't that great, with a few exceptions. i waited in line for 3 hours for the seriall thriller, and then it sucked. i think that ruined my day. also, the park was dirty, and every store was out of park maps. on a high note though, the texas cyclone was a great wooden rollercoaster (one of only a few that i like.)

Its lineup of rides isn't that impressive, nor is the look of the park.

The staff sucked, the food sucked, half of the coasters really sucked, the flats ride collection was weak at best. Cyclone was good, and the three Schwarzkopf's were nice, but no need to visit this park without the desperate desire for a count boost. A pitiful 1/5, c'mon Astrowld, long ago you were a prime park.

Well what can i say about the park i grew up with. i used to be horrible but i personaly think the park has been cleaned up in the last 2 years. i would also like to mention that visiting the park on a saturday or sunday is not a smart move. visit only on a weekday.

We had a great trip to the park, only about 2 weeks before it closes for good. Sure there were some ride op problems, but we expected that so close to closing. But there were a lot that were doing outstanding jobs trying to make the last few weeks good ones. Even for being very crowded, it was neat, clean, and a fun park. It's going to be missed, and a great loss.

I was there on the last 2 operating days. Truly an underrated park. Thanks for all the fun AstroWorld. I'm sorry Six Flags killed you.

I always wanted to see this little park. I thought it was quirky with the Schwarzkopfs and the second hand coasters. I actually listed Astroworld as a Top 3 choice in a Six Flags "Visit any Park" contests in the early 2000's. The former SFGADV coasters Ultra Twister and Batman were my draw. How terrrible Six Flags was to rip up this forefront theme park. I realized how underappreciated Texas Cyclone was to me. I made it to the park for my first visit in July 2006 but it was of its new state - grassy field. I took pictures from the road behind it straight across the field with the Astrodome, Reliant Stadium now looming. The bridge to Astroworld is now the bridge to nowhere.

Great park, neglected by Six Flags. I'd hardly call AstroWorld's selection limited... 9 coasters isn't bad for a 109 acre park, two decent Schwarzkopfs at that. The Cyclone was a great woodie and one of, if not the best, Cyclone clones in existence (that was in existence...) It had a great variety and appealed to all ages, and wasn't nearly as dirty as portrayed. I miss this park immensely. Driving three hours to SFFT for a couple of good coasters just doesn't seem worth it.
