More About This Park
History:
Beginning in 1840, “Gallups Grove,” played host to popular family picnics and clambakes. The name was changed to “Riverside” in 1912 when the new owner, Henry J. Perkings, transformed the land into an amusement park Featuring a “sanitary bathing pool” and a number of mechanical rides. In 1938, Edward Carroll, Sr., leased Riverside’s adjoining parking lot to open Massachusetts’s second drive in theater. Soon thereafter, Mr. Carroll purchased the park.

In 1997, Edward Carroll Jr. sold Riverside, to Premier Parks. Riverside officially became Six Flags New England on December 8, 1999.

Notes:
Re-branded as Six Flags New England in 1999. 2000 was it's first operational season as Six flags New England.

Six Flags NE is the only one in the chain of parks that I have been to. It is a small park with a decent collection of rides and roller coasters. They also have one HUGE water park that is free with park admission. For those looking to ride some top notch roller coasters, Superman and Batman are some of the best around.
The park dosn't have the smartest emloyees around. They are slow at their jobs, and you can tell that they dont want to be there. Try and visit the park during Fright Fest. The park is nicely 'spooked' out with some decent halloween haunted houses. Make sure to get a Qbot because the lines for all major attractions can get verrrry long. Six Flags New England is definatly worth spending a day there.

One of the better Six Flags parks. Helps that they have the BEST coaster on earth (S:ROS) two great wooden coasters (Cyclone and Thunderbolt) and a great compact B&M floorless (Batman: The Dark Knight). Couple other complimentary coasters and several other great rides make this one great park.

Great park. it also helped that the only time i've been there (as of this post) I won the free super Q-Bot. great that HH is free and is definately better than the new Jersey One.

I went to SFNE for 3 days, and I like the park. Though I must say that I still consider SFOG to be better. SFNE had Superman Ride of Steel (which is my favorite coaster), and Batman the Dark Knight (gotta love those floorless), but SFOG just has more and better rides. Here's a few things to compare:

Georgia Cyclone is WAY better than SFNE's Cyclone.
Deja Vu is better than flashback.
Ride of Steel is better than Ultimate Flight.
Acrophbia is better than Scream.
I didn't get to ride Chaos or Nightwing, so I don't know how they would size up the the Wheelie.
The Magic Show is better than the Bad Bob Show.

that's all I got, overall, I give the park a 4.

Best Ride: Superman: Ride of Steel

Six Flags New England is by far my favorite amusement park. It has a great coaster collection highlighted by my favorite coaster and the best flat collection of any park I've been to. The atmosphere is also great. Having visited the park while it was Riverside in the late 1990s as I kid, I can say that Six Flags definitely improved this park.

Coasters- Excellent. Superman (10 out of 10) alone would make this park worth visiting. It just has incredible air, powerful Gs, and a relentless pacing. Batman (8 out of 10) is a good floorless that filled that small space in a great way. Cyclone (7 out of 10) and Thunderbolt (6 out of 10) make for a pretty good wooden coaster collection and Pandemonium (8 out of 10) is a very good coaster despite its size. I have mixed feelings about Mind Eraser (cool layout, but plenty of pain) and Flashback is nothing more than a boomerang. Catwoman's Whip is a cool family coaster though.

Flat Rides- Excellent. Scream is by far my favorite thanks to it's excellent combo mode. Catapult is a very unique and thrilling flat. Time Warp gives incredible hang-time, and the park also has a fun top spin and frisbee. Also, they have great Tea Cups that can be spun really fast.

Water Rides- Blizzard River may not be the best river rapids ride, but I still had fun on it. Splash Water Falls is very unique and worth checking out. It's more of a spinning ride though than a water ride. Shipwreck Falls is the park's shoot the chute, but it's really mediocre.

Dark Rides- Houdini- the Great Escape is one of those haunted swing rides and it's my favorite I've been on.

Food- It's overpriced for sure, but I find the food to be quite good. I love the park's chicken strips and the burgers from Johnny Rockets are great. The park's fries are weak though.

Atmosphere- The South End really seems bare, but I love Main Street and the Superhero section is incredibly well themed. The North End and Crackaxle Canyon look cool too.

Also, SFNE has the best water park I've been to as well. They have Typhoon, a great "master blaster" slide, a Tornado funnel slide, a tall body slide tower, and some great raft slides. Definitely check it out while there.

As one of the next parks away from SFGADV, SFNE has charm for a smaller SF park. I prefer it much more than SFA.
