9/21/2001 HERSHEY_ On Saturday, September 29, HERSHEYPARKŪ will be open to the public from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., in order to host a fund raising event. The ticket price is $12.95 for ages 3 and older. Children 2 and younger will be admitted at no charge; parking will be free. Total proceeds from the admission ticket sales of that day will be donated to The September 11 Fund, established by the United Way and The New York Community Trust to benefit New York City, Washington, DC and other areas affected by the September 11 tragedy. Guests are encouraged to dress in red, white, and blue, and share their patriotism. HERSHEYPARK was originally scheduled to be closed to the public on September 29; however, the group who had booked the facility for a private party volunteered to open the park to the public, allowing this fund raising opportunity to be planned. "As a company, we felt strongly that we wanted to sponsor a fund raiser to benefit the victims and their families. On September 29, HERSHEYPARK will be a vehicle for the people in central Pennsylvania to raise funds for The September 11 Fund as well as a gathering place for people to celebrate our American heritage," said Scott J. Newkam, Chairman of the Board, CEO, and President of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Co. (the parent company of HERSHEYPARK) "We are proud to be hosting this event," concluded Newkam. |
