News: Big Chief to add 2005 Coaster

By Jill Anne

Jan. 21st, 2004 -- Big Chief Karts and Coasters announced that they plan to build the "tallest coaster in the Midwest" as part of a huge 2005 expansion. However, it is unknown whether they are including Ohio as part of the "Midwest" or not. No other details about the coaster are being specified.

This will be the largest expansion in the park's history. Nickolaos Laskaris, the new park co-owner, stated that plans were already made to expand the park before Jim Laskaris, the late owner, died. The park is now owned and operated by Nickolaos and his wife Eva, as well as Jim's daughter Penelope and her husband, Nicholaos Rokanas.

The main goal of expanding Big Chief is to give it more of a theme park atmosphere. The first part of the coaster is to be completed in the spring,  and another top secret ride is slated to open this summer. The park is also starting a pay-one-price admittance policy.

And the final change might be small or large--the park will change its name to "Big Chief Mt. Olympus Theme Park".
