News: ComoTown opens to great acclaimBy Drewbie |
Jun. 3rd, 2005 -- Young children attending the official opening of the new Como Town amusement park in St. Paul couldn't be happier with the park's new attractions. Fears that the park's tradition would be lost were erased when the gates officially opened Wednesday. Last year Como Zoo put out a contract to revamp the amusement park area and give it a much-needed facelift. O'Neil Amusements, which had operated the park for 55 years, lost the contact to Lancer Hospitality. Como Town is the company's first venture into the amusement business. Lancer invested $4.5 million into the renovation of the area, included the rides, landscaping, and amphitheater, and a large climbing structure set to open in July. The park features many typical childrens' rides, including a Frog Hopper, kiddie coaster, and a truck ride. More info courtesy of the Minneapolis Star Tribune (free registration required).
