News: SeaWorld expansion hitting oppositionBy Aaron |
Jun. 22nd, 2005 -- SeaWorld Orlando says it will be building an additional theme park on 58 acres of land adjacent to the main park. SeaWorld has not disclosed what it would build, and has said more information would be released this fall. Some speculate that SeaWorld may be building a waterpark with slides up to 140 feet tall. Whatever the company has in mind for the site, those living around the park are opposing the expansion plans. They say they are concerned not only about the noise the expansion would generate, but also exactly what it is that SeaWorld plans on constructing. According to details filed with the county, the expansion would cost about $90 million, have no building over 140 feet tall, be capable of holding 7,500 guests at a time, and would include a 2,000 car parking lot. It is expected to open in 2007. See WFTV for more. |
