Aug. 10th, 2005 -- In a meeting today the Westchester County parks committee discussed a proposal that would allow parents and guardians to go on amusement park rides free with their children at Playland. The idea is one of several proposals brought up at the meeting as a way of responding to last week's death of a 7-year-old boy on the park's Ye Old Mill water ride. Another consideration would enact minimum age requirements for riders in addition to height requirements. The death was ruled accidental on Aug. 4. Investigators believe the boy stood up in the boat and was caught underneath a conveyor belt that propels the ride. See The Journal News for more. |
