News: Alton Towers out to assist accountants

Aug. 30th, 2005 -- Although it's long been the stereotype that accountants are boring, a recent report by the City University of Hong Kong formally declared accountants to be dull. In one of the most unique promotions offered by any theme park, Alton Towers is out to change the bean counters' image by offering them free admission to the park.

Any accountant showing a professional ID will be admitted for free between Sept. 5 and the end of the month. A spokesman for Alton Towers says the park is offering accountants both a way to show they have interesting lives and a challenge to prove they can handle the thrills offered by the park's rides.

Area accountants say they appreciate the promotion and plan on taking advantage of it.
