News: X-Scream riders get an unexpected scare when power goes outBy Chris L |
Nov. 16th, 2005 -- Six Japanese tourists were left stranded for approximately 90 minutes Tuesday night aboard the X-Scream thrill-ride when the power went out. The riders were perched more than 900-feet above ground level off the side of the top of the Stratosphere Tower at a slope.Nevada Power said wind entangled power and telephone lines causing the outage and not a car accident. The ride was stuck over the edge because it doesn't have manual hydraulics to pull the passenger vehicle back in. The riders were stranded until the power was restored just before 7:30 p.m. Fire rescue crews were sent up to help the shaken riders off the ride. X-Scream is one of the world's highest rides - situated atop the Stratosphere Tower at the far end of the Las Vegas strip in Nevada. Visit Eyewitness News for the complete original article. |
