By trombone

Nov. 29th, 2005 -- A 7-foot-long, 350-pound baby orca was born on Thanksgiving eve at SeaWorld Orlando. This is the second calf for mother Takara, who gave birth around 10:30 pm at Shamu Stadium. The sex of the calf is yet to be determined. Visitors can get a glimpse of the calf beginning today.

Park specialists announced that they are "cautiously optimistic" about the baby and 17-foot-long, 5,700-pound Takara. This is the 23rd orca to be born at the three SeaWorld parks nationwide and the thirteenth to be born at the Orlando theme park.

Visit the SeaWorld Orlando website for the press release.
