Special Features: Greg's IAAPA 2003 Video

By Steven

Feb. 6th, 2004 -- Before I tell you about the video, I should probably apologize for its procrastination.  Yes, if you know about IAAPA, it was back in November... several months ago.  You may be asking “So, Greg, why are you posting this now in February?”, well, my response is…I’m not going to lie, I don’t have a response, I was lazy.  So now that we’ve established that IAAPA is in November, I think I’ll explain what it is.  IAAPA, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, holds their Annual convention in Orlando quite frequently.  It is a time for parks to browse around to see what the latest and greatest products are available.

Spinning RideI attend yearly with a coaster engineering firm (I think I’ll keep which one to myself, if they see this video, they might not want their name associated with it, haha) and spend a few days doing business related stuff.  After the business stuff is over, the true fun begins.  Food, drinks, rides, and everything else you can imagine is all in one place for maximum enjoyment.  From the delicious pizza-pretzel to well-known Coca Cola, everything you could want is available for consuming.

Something else I must say before continuing.  After you watch this video, you will be thinking that this whole thing is about fun and games.  Well, it is in a way, but it actually is a business convention, with very serious deals going down.  This video is a nice example of what “Not to do” if you ever attend.  Basically, it’s just me and some friends enjoying everything as much as possible!  Inside are gigantic inflatable, outside wicked-fun flat rides.

RobocoasterIn the video, you will see us try out the newest in coaster seat technology, along with riding the very popular Robocoaster.  Also featured is a lot of insanity, including, but not limited to, incorrect usage of inflatable slides. (Note: please do not imitate, we regret much of what we tried, as we learned the hard way that sliding down plastic with bare skin results in missing flesh).

Riding Fake WavesOverall, it was a really fun time, and I’d like to thank everyone that went and all the companies that attended.  Once again, sorry for the delay in posting, but I think you will enjoy the complete incoherent randomness of the video.  It is Windows Media format and a little over 10 megabytes, so I recommend saving it to your hard drive and then watching, not streaming!  Enjoy!
