 Jan. 2nd, 2006 -- A strike by Six Flags Magic Mountain's roller coaster maintenance workers was averted over the weekend. On Saturday, park managers and union leaders hammered out a deal that was ratified by a "healthy margin" on Sunday. If the deal had not been reached, the unionized workers planned to strike at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday. The workers, members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, are trying to raise their pay to industry standards. Union workers say they are paid 30 percent less then comparable employees at Universal Studios and Disneyland. The details of the deal were not made public. See the Los Angeles Daily News for more. |
