News: Legoland California plans expansionBy Dan G |
Jan. 15th, 2006 -- Legoland California plans to expand its 128-acre park with a long-contemplated expansion that would include several new rides and attractions. The proposed expansion would take place in two sections, a pirate-themed area called Pirates Cluster with five new rides and a section called "Xtreme Cluster" with two new rides. The pirate-themed rides include a small flume designed for families and young children, and a "pirate cove water scape", along with proposals for a pirate toddler zone and midway games. The two rides planned for the Xtreme cluster include an "aqua drag", and a road-racing attraction based on Lego's race cars. The city Planning Commission will hold a hearing Wednesday evening on the proposal, and if the park gets city approval, the pirate-themed area may be developed this year. However there was no specific timeline for the Xtreme Cluster. Visit SignOnSanDiego.com for more information. |
