Finance: Sandusky parking tax voted down

By Jill Anne

Feb. 10th, 2004 -- City commissioners voted 4-2 to drop the 8% Sandusky parking tax last night that Cedar Point has complained so much about in the past year. The tax will expire in 30 days.

Although the tax has raised over $300,000 for the city, Cedar Point has threatened to sue the city because it is the only business that regularly charges for parking. Even the city commissioners that voted to drop the tax think that it is possibly a mistake to do so. Cedar Point, on the other hand, has thus far paid the taxes it owed with no legal action and has thanked the commission for dropping the tax for the upcoming year.
