News: Two Astroworld coasters find new homes in the Lone Star State

By Wes

Mar. 13th, 2006 -- It has been announced that two of the roller coasters from the now defunct Six Flags Astroworld have found new homes.

The Schwarzkopf shuttle loop coaster called "Greezed Lightnin'" that opened in 1978 has found a new home at Joyland Park in Lubbock, Texas.

Mayan Mindbender a coaster built by Vekoma has been purchased by Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo, Texas.

Both coasters are expected to open in 2007 at their respective new homes.

On a sad note, the Texas Cyclone modeled after the legendary Coney Island Cyclone and designed by the late-William L. Cobb is no more.

Witnesses say that the structure was completely torn down by mid-day Thursday.
