News: Shapiro planning big investments for Six Flags Fiesta Texas

By Aaron

Mar. 20th, 2006 -- Six Flags Fiesta Texas has some big plans in the works. Six Flags CEO Mark Shapiro recently visited the amusement park and intends to invest heavily in it, according to park manager Martin Bozer.

The park has been somewhat ignored by Six Flags over recent years, with the newest ride added in 2002 and the most recent roller coaster opened in 2000. According to Bozer, however, that is about to change. Of the $140 million set aside for park improvements this year, some of it is going to Fiesta Texas for the construction of three new water rides. Bozer also said that park officials are "even more excited" about plans for 2007.

In addition to new rides, the park also expects to get new visitors since the closing of Six Flags AstroWorld last year.
