News: Schlitterbahn Galveston Island to open new areaBy Dan G |
Apr. 9th, 2006 --
After opening for a spring break sneak peak earlier last month, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is scheduled to open the Surfenburg Area of their new waterpark on April 22. The area consists of 16 attractions, including uphill water coasters, a wave lagoon, three beaches, body slides, the Tiki Tikes kid's area, the Boogie Bahn surf ride, family raft rides, and the park's Transportainment river system which consists of three different rivers. Along with the park's Wasserfest convertible area, the Surfenburg area will be open weekends before daily opeartion begins on May 13."We are thrilled to reach our next milestone with the opening of the Surfenburg for the kick-off into our summer season," said Ron Sutula, general manager of Schlitterbhan Galveston Island Waterpark. The good news doesn't stop here either. "There are still more surprises in store for this summer," hinted Sutula. "We still have more expansion news in store for the 2006 season that we plan on announcing soon." This news all comes after the park opened its doors early last month introducing the world's first convertible waterpark area. Offering more than a dozen heated water park attractions, the 70,000-square-foot Wasserfest convertible area will operate year-round and will offer seven slides, three kid's areas, a secluded beach, a hot tub and the Torrent Tidal Wave River throughout the winter season. For the summer season however, the roof and wall system will open to receive the gulf coast's natural warmth and sunshine. The park will open daily May 13 and will operate until the end of the summer season on Sept. 24.For more information, follow the link here. |
