News: Future uncertain for Wild Waves/Enchanted Village park

By Aaron

Apr. 19th, 2006 -- At a recent visit to Washington's Wild Waves/Enchanted Village amusement park, Six Flags C.E.O. Mark Shapiro was less then happy. Shapiro, who said that the park is not up to company standards, stressed that the park needs to do a better job at getting visitors to return, not just building a new attraction to lure them in once. He also pointed out the importance of giving parks a cohesive theme and the proper use of signs, a "major pet peeve" for Shapiro.

Despite the park's shortcomings, Shapiro noted that it has "great potential". However, he announced that Six Flags has hired a company to closely examine all of the company's parks; the data will be evaluated at the end of the year. Shapiro did not comment about whether Six Flags is considering selling the park, but said that any announcement regarding a sale would not come this year.
