News: Children taken to closed park

By Dan G

Apr. 27th, 2006 -- Four bus loads of students from O'Brien Middle School in Reno, Nev., were disappointed after spending a day traveling four hours to Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, Calif., only to find the park closed. The school, however, was given printed tickets with Monday's date on them.

The tour company which arranged the trip neglected to check the schedule which caused the inconvenience of the trip which was supposed to reward top students. School officials said the $50 fee will be refunded, and the next trip will be paid by the tour company.

"It is just a bummer for the kids," said one student's parent. "Now, they will have to wait another month to go and a lot of the kids might not be able to go then."

Six Flags Marine World began daily operation on April 1, but it was closed from April 24 to April 27.
