News: Lake Compounce ready to expand waterpark

By BryanWood

Aug. 1st, 2006 -- Lake Compounce is looking into expanding its waterpark by relocating a road that intersects park property. The relocation of the road would cost $3 million and free eight usable acres of land for future expansions.

Park manager Jerry Brick says the park will expand into all eight acres, but do it in steps-not all at once. No waterslides have been ordered yet, but the park is talking with waterslide designers about future plans.

The expansion will not take place until at least 2008, as they hope to start the road relocation this Spring. A new car ride will be added in 2007, and is expected to be the only new ride at America's oldest amusement park.
