News: Alton Towers abandons Muslim Fun DayBy Aaron |
Aug. 4th, 2006 -- Alton Towers announced today that it is cancelling plans to hold a "Muslim Fun Day" at the amusement park on Sept. 17. The park and the event's organizers cited a lack of interest as the reason. Under the plans for the event, rides would be segregated by gender and alcohol, gambling, and music would be banned for the day. The park would feature a strict dress code, special prayer areas, and food that complies with Islamic dietary laws. All tickets that have already been purchased will be refunded. Organizers had hoped to provide a comfortable entertainment area for some of Britain's 1.7 million Muslims. See All Headline News for more. |
