News: Acrobat dies after falling at Elitch Gardens

By Dan G

Aug. 13th, 2006 -- A performer in Six Flags Elitch Gardens' Amazing Acrobats of China show died on Saturday from injuries he sustained during a performance on Friday after falling close to 30 feet and hitting his head.

Spectators say that the man fell face first after attempting a stunt where he balanced on top of a stack of chairs and a table. The 19-year-old performer was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center where he later died early Saturday morning. The man's name was not disclosed.

The Amazing Acrobats of China perform at Six Flags Elitch Gardens three times daily, and four times on weekends during the summer. The group is scheduled to perform at the park until Labor Day, but a spokesperson with the park cancelled Saturday's shows and says future performances have been postponed until further notice.
