News: 10-year-old girl dies at Six Flags Great America

A 10-year-old girl collapsed at approximately 6:15 pm at Six Flags Great America on Wednesday August 16, 2006 after having gotten off of a ride in the Camp Cartoon Network area of the park.

When paramedics arrived, a doctor was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, fire officials said. The girl's heart had stopped, according to police.


She was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition and died at about 7:15 p.m.

Officials noted that the girl had a history of heart complications.  The cause of death had not been determined.

It was confirm that the girl died of a congenital heart condition, a coroner said Thursday.
