News: Arnolds Park is doing unexpectedly well this seasonBy Brian P |
Sep. 8th, 2006 -- <>Arnolds Park is doing better than they expected this season. The park had some rough years in the past, but started the season off well with a $500,000 donation. Scott Pyle, the parks general manager said, "July was a little slow, but it was extremely hot in July, but August has picked up and actually been better than what we projected." Other businesses in the region are also having a successful year. Okoboji Lake is one of the regions main activities, meaning that warm weather typically translates to greater tourism. Cold weather isn't bad for the park - it actually helps bring people into the park. Pyle explained that the colder weather draws people from the lake to the park. The park expects to draw crowds next year as it celebrates the 80th birthday of the Legend, a coaster opened in 1927 and designed by John Miller. The entire story can be found here. |
