News: Six Geauga Lake employees laid off by Cedar Fair

By MrMike

Sep. 8th, 2006 -- Cedar Fair, L.P. has fired six employees from their Geauga Lake family amusement park in Aurora, Ohio. The Sandusky, OH-based amusement park operator acquired Geauga Lake from Six Flags Inc. in 2004.

The early-2006 acquisition of the chain of Paramount Parks from CBS Corp. by Cedar Fair is partially responsible for the lay-offs. The six employees were let go because of overlapping positions within Cedar Fair, especially between Cedar Point and Geauga Lake.

The company, which is currently carrying a debt load of over $2 billion, intends to streamline operations in order to reduce costs.
