News: Legality of Adventure Park coaster called into questionBy Aaron |

Oct. 12th, 2006 -- Officials of Frederick County, MD, have proclaimed that the Wildcat roller coaster under construction at Adventure Park USA is illegal, something park owner Larry Stottlemyer denied in a press release two days ago. County officials say that a permit is needed for the 44-foot-tall coaster, something Mr. Stottlemyer says he was told he didn't need because Wildcat is not being built as a permanent structure. The coaster has no footings or foundations and is powered by a removable plug. County officials also say that the coaster was not included in a plan approved three years ago. In response, Mr. Stottlemyer says that Wildcat is being built in an area that was approved for amusement rides, including roller coasters. See the Frederick News-Post for more. |
