News: Universal Studios to get Blue Man Group show

Nov. 12th, 2006 -- Universal Studios in Orlando, Fl. has landed a deal with the famous high-energy musical act: Blue Man Group.

On November 9, 2006, Universal and the founder of Blue Man Group that an old soundstage at Universal Studios is being renovated into a state-of-the-art theatre, allowing the group to begin shows next June.

Blue Man Group consists of three entertainers in blue face paint who use innovative music, paints and ordinary objects to create a stage extravaganza.

The Group has shows in New York, Las Vegas and five other cities, all that have become major tourist draws, which is what Universal wants and expects.

According to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Williams, "It's certainly something that I've had my eye on and aspired to bring to Universal for some time, a show that could not only delight daytime visitors to our parks but could also be an evening entertainment experience for those who come to CityWalk."

The Group expects 15 shows a week during mid-summer and Christmas seasons, with ticket prices from $45.

The stage that is being refurbished is the former Nickelodeon soundstage in the corner of the Univeral Studios theme park. Current pathways will be reconstructed to allow non-theme park visitors to attend the show.
