News: Bell's Amusement Park interested in moving

By James R

Nov. 21st, 2006 --

Bell's Amusement Park has stated that a move to the suburbs of Tulsa from the Tulsa County Fairgrounds is possible.

On Monday, November 20, the owner of Bell's amusement park, Robby Bell, said that he would like to stay put at the Fairgrounds if possible, but has said that it is no longer true.

He has had an increased interest from the suburbs that he is willing to go anywhere he can find the best deal and that he has no false hope that he will be able to stay at the Fairgrounds.

The park has asked for more time to move from the fairgrounds, more than the 120 days given by their lease that has expired two weeks ago.

Bell has said that he has no more preference on the location of Bell's. Accord to him, "[there are] dozens of inquiries from the private sector]" thus pushing them to explore all of their options.

The local Tulsa County Commissioner, Randy Miller, said that Bell's turned over some financial records for an independent review. The park feels that they cannot make a decision yet, and that they need more time to explore all possibilities. The park has made contact with developers from several local cities, such as Sand Springs.
