News: Magic Mountain to remain openBy Aaron |
Dec. 13th, 2006 -- In June, Six Flags announced that it was considering selling several park, including Magic Mountain. Yesterday, Chief Executive Mark Shapiro says that he wants to keep Magic Mountain as an amusement park, though he has not ruled out selling it to another park operator. A decision whether to sell the park will be decided by year's end.Six Flags also announced new plans to boost family attendance at its amusement parks, including licensing deals with children's entertainment group The Wiggles, the Thomas the Tank Engine franchise, a partnership with Cold Stones Creamery, and discounts for season passes. The company is hoping that these deals can help pull Six Flags out of its slumping financial state. Attendance decreased 14 percent this year from 2005 with a two percent drop in revenue.
