News: Myrtle Beach Pavilion's The Attic bites the dustBy Santa Claus |
Dec. 20th, 2006 -- The inevitable finally has happened. The famous original building at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park most know as The Attic is now a pile of rubble as demolition of the park continues. In the later years of the park, the building housed The Attic teen dance club and an arcade. The oceanfront building dates back to 1948 and survived both Hurricanes Hazel and Hugo but unfortunately couldn’t survive the wrecking ball. Despite repeated requests to Burroughs & Chapin Co. Inc. to save the building, the company still decided to demolish. Demolition of the park will continue until June. B&C have not announced future plans for the site at this point.
