News: Park improvements, new services and goods at Magic MountainBy Chris L |
Mar. 3rd, 2007 -- Work at Six Flags Magic Mountain is underway, sprucing up the park for the 2007 season. The park has completely refurbished their 95-year old Grand Carousel, buildings and rides are being splashed with new coats of paint, the parking lot is being resurfaced and restriped, and two dismal and unpopular roller coasters are being dismantled. The park hopes the new influx of brand-name services and products introduced for this season will receive positive feedback from families they hope to attract. Guests will be able to enjoy the tatsy frozen dessert flavors of Coldstone Creamery; test out and play Nintendo's Wii video gaming console for free; and purchase in-park photograph services by Kodak. "When people come to our parks with their families, they want to find products and services that they're familiar with," said Wendy Goldberg, spokeswoman for Six Flags. Though the park is known mostly for its large collection of giant roller coasters, it offers rides and attractions for children and hopes to expand their offerings of entertainment for the younger set in the near future. Magic Mountain spokeswoman Sue Carpenter noted that while Six Flags Inc. is in the process of implementing areas around popular childrens' icons such as The Wiggles, Thomas & Friends, and Tony Hawk at some of their parks this year, Magic Mountain is not one of them. However, management at Magic Mountain is working on bringing in some or all of these newly licensed brands into the park in the near future.
