News: Hurricane meets its final demise

By Wes

Mar. 23rd, 2007 -- This morning the final piece of roller coaster history at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion came crashing down with the final section of the coaster.

Lowcountry Wrecking pulled the final piece, the coaster’s lift hill, down to the ground shortly after 9 a.m.

Since beginning demolition in December, the crew has used excavators, claws and even an occasional chainsaw to pull apart the six-year-old coaster built by Custom Coasters International, Inc.

No one wanted the Haunted Hotel dark ride or the coaster, so the owners decided to scrap both of them.
