News: Kennywood Ent. buys Story Land in Glen, NH

By Michael C

May. 1st, 2007 -- Kennywood Entertainment will soon be the new owners of the New Hampshire theme park Story Land.

In June 2007 the park's founding company, the Morell Corporation, will shut down and make way for Kennywood Entertainment. President, Nancy L. Morrell announced the sale May 1.

"From Story Land's standpoint, we view this more as a marriage into a larger family of theme parks, than a sale," said Nancy Morrell. "We evaluated a number of options to ensure the long-term success of the park that my parents and my brother dedicated so much of their lives to, and believe Kennywood provides the best opportunity to preserve their theme park legacy. We're honored that Kennywood considers us a good fit."

Story Land opened in 1954 on Rt 16 in Glen, NH. Calling the White Mountains home, it started a small road-side attraction with small houses representing storybook characters and a Fire truck ride. They are now a bustling theme park with 6 themed area, 21 rides, 3 Animatronic shows, and many other attractions.
