News: Six riders injured on rapids ride at Animal Kingdom

May. 29th, 2007 -- During an evacuation of the Kali River Rapids ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom, a platform malfunctioned and caused injury to several riders. Five guests and one Disney employee were injured. The Disney employee was reported to have a bone fracture, other guests had minor injuries such as bruises, cuts and neck and back pain.

One of the ride's sensors caused the backup of rafts and eventually required the evacuation. The ride remained closed till about 4:15 P.M. after further inspection. The safety platform that malfunctioned had disengaged and slid off its normal operating sequence.
