Finance: Disney World ticket prices to increase

Mar. 28th, 2004 -- Walt Disneyworld, the largest amusement resort in Florida, announced that the park is raising their ticket prices $2.75, before tax. This is about a 5% ticket price increase from last years. The final price that a guest would pay at Disneyworld would be $54.75 dollars, before tax as well. This price increase retains Disney's title as the most expensive amusement park in Florida.

Disney isn't the only park company to raise prices. Sea World, Universal Orlando, along with Disney constantly raise prices to recover from their economic loss from September 11th, 2001.

Abe Pizam, dean of the University of Central Florida's Rosen School of Hospitality Management said: "The economy in their eyes has recovered," he said of Disney. "People are coming back to Orlando, and visiting Disney again, so there's room for a rate increase."

One Disney Spokesperson says: "We continue to think that this ticket represents a great entertainment value," Disney spokesman Rick Sylvain said

Other ticket prices change as well. One-day, one-park tickets for children ages 3-9 will increase $1.75 to $43.75. Four- and five-day "Park Hopper" passes for both adults and children will also go up -- four-day adults from $208 to $219, four-day kids from $167 to $176, five-day adults from $269 to $282, and five-day kids from $216 to $226

The ticket increase will not harm park guest rate, but it may create some grumbling at the ticket lines.
