News: Last of Geauga Lake being auctioned off

By Chip

Jun. 15th, 2008 -- Parts that made up Geauga Lake will be auctioned off Tuesday and Wednesday.

Michigan-based Norton Auctioneers will begin auctioning off rides and equipment at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Double Loop, Raging Wolf Bobs and other rides will be up for bid. The park's classic Big Dipper is not.

Norton's vice president said Big Dipper was offered to the American Coaster Enthusiasts for free, but the group has not accepted the offer.

Geauga Lake was closed at the end of the 2007 season. Cedar Fair purchased the park from Six Flags and has operated it since 2004.
