News: Waldameer gets approval for Ravine Flyer

By BryanWood

Apr. 29th, 2004 -- After years of waiting, Waldameer Park owner Paul Nelson finally got approval for his dream project, Ravine Flyer II. The wooden coaster will come with many stipulations.

Nelson said it could take 3-4 years and over $6 million to build the roller coaster on the cliff and over Peninsula Drive. The wooden coaster with steel supports would be the biggest expansion in the amusement park's history, which is located in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Likely suitors to build this ride would be S&S Power or The Gravity Group.

The addition could still be appealed by the Candelas, who own a campground next to where the coaster would be built.
