News: Six Flags America Closes Superman

By Jerry Huster

May. 6th, 2004 -- LARGO, MD -- Six Flags America has closed it's own Superman: Ride of Steel roller coaster in response to a death on a similar ride at Six Flags New England.

Six Flags Spokeswoman Debbie Nauser said it is company policy to shut down rides in other parks that are the same or similar in other parks until investigators can determine what happened.

In Massachusetts, state officials have said all rides that use T-bar style restraints will remain closed until they can be inspected.

Intamin AG is the manufacturer of each Superman roller coaster in question.
