News: Mission: Space sends riders to hospitalBy Jerry Huster |
May. 6th, 2004 -- According to a reporter with The Orlando Sentinel, Florida state theme-park safety records reveal that Disney's "Mission: Space" has sent six riders to the hospital since the simulator ride opened last summer. Of the six who were sent to the hospital on Mission: Space, all were at least 55, three were sent for chest pains, two for nausea, and one who generally "didn't feel well." The $100 million ride simulates forces of a rocket launch (weightlessness and high gravitational forces) by spinning guests inside small "ships" at high speeds. Only one other ride caused more than two hospital visits since reporting started in 2001... Ripsaw Falls, with three riders being sent to the hospital. Read more at the Seattle Times. |
